Obtained a grant to build two health clinics, train nurses, purchased solar generators and water purification systems for the villages of Masihulan and Sawai in return for a 350 Hectare No Take Heritage Zone. (This means a protected and untouched rainforest preserve)
Have developed a successful program having local village people harvest Java Almonds (we call them Molucca Nuts) and send them to this country. The nuts are selling well as they are part of the natural diet of Cockatoos and Eclectus parrots (and people love them too!) This provides a sustainable income for the villagers and in return they are no longer trapping birds and animals.
Were involved in a confiscation and rescue of 9 Moluccan Cockatoos, 2 Eclectus, 4 Red Cheeked Parrots and 2 Cassowaries these birds are presently in a safe area in the forest awaiting testing and hopefully release back onto their home island.
Parts of our website have been integrated into other avian websites and translated into Italian and Chinese.
are working with the Indonesian government, and major wild animal rescue facilities to develop the first rehab and release center for parrots on the Island of Seram.
The Manseula National Park has donated 50 Hectares of Rainforest to us, so we can setup a sanctuary in the forest for the birds and animals that cannot be released back into the wild. This will serve as a great educational tool for visitors.
We are working on developing a program that will bring live information and the opportunity to interact from the field to school classrooms via the wireless world.
